CIJF partners with churches to welcome migrants to Denver
From December 2022 through July 10, 2023, 12,885 migrants from the US/Mexico border have sought shelter in Denver.
We recently learned of two local churches who are providing a faith community for migrants, in addition to assisting with physical needs.
Providence Bible Church has a mostly-English-speaking congregation, while Iglesia Renuevo offers services in Spanish to Latin American immigrants.
The Iglesia Renuevo congregation meets in the Providence building, and members of both churches are working diligently to find housing and jobs for recently-arrived immigrants. Thus far, over 120 migrants have found housing as a result of this church partnership.
Recently, Courtney (with Providence) told us about her Venezuelan friend Katherine (with Iglesia Renuevo). Katherine and her children recently fled an incredibly dangerous situation in Venezuela.
After meeting with Katherine, we believe that she has a strong case for asylum, so we are funding a trusted attorney to take the case.
Many thanks to all who have donated to make this work possible!
With hope and gratitude,
Greg Mortimer, on behalf of the Colorado Immigrant Justice Fund team
