Abdi from Somalia wins asylum!

Thus far In 2023, we have funded the legal services for more than 40 asylum cases for immigrants in Colorado and remote parts of California.

Abdi is one of the immigrants whose asylum case we funded. Abdi was a member of a minority clan in Somalia, and was forced to flee for his life when he made the “mistake” of falling in love with a woman from a majority clan.

After enduring the treacherous journey to the US, he was placed in detention. A CIJF-funded attorney took up his asylum case, which he won earlier this year!

$10,000 matching gift & Colorado Gives Day!

In support of this work, a generous friend has committed to match year-end donations - up to $10,000.

End of year giving can be further boosted by donating to CIJF via the Colorado Gives Day website. Donations made in this manner are supplemented by the Community First Foundation’s $1 million matching incentive.

Many thanks to all of our partners in this work; we appreciate you!

With hope and gratitude,
Greg Mortimer, on behalf of the Colorado Immigrant Justice Fund team
