2020/2021 Annual Report
Because of CIJF, “NDB” is granted asylum
Over the last several years, French-speaking majority leaders in Cameroon have been oppressing the English-speaking minority population to the extent that many international observers consider it a state of genocide.
When NDB and his friend protested, his friend was murdered in front of him, while NDB was arrested, beaten and imprisoned several times before he was able to flee to the US to seek asylum. He was placed in the Imperial Detention Center in the California desert.
While detained, the CIJF funded his legal case, enabling him to win asylum earlier this year. He has now started a new life in the United States.
Our first annual report
The Colorado Immigrant Justice Fund completed its first year in August 2021 and we have funded legal services for a growing number of immigrants like "NDB" who fled to the US.
We recently created this annual report to let you know more of what we have been up to!
During our first year, the CIJF raised money to hire 3 attorneys to provide legal services to immigrants detained in 6 detention centers in Colorado, California and Louisiana - all of whom we met as a result of the Casa de Paz pen pal program.
Because of this work,
9 immigrants won asylum
Over 100 immigrants received legal consults, many of whom were subsequently released from detention, and
3 immigrants detained in Aurora, Colorado were able to hire expert witnesses to help with their court cases.
The vision of the Colorado Immigrant Justice Fund team is that if a lot of folks can give a little each month ($5, $15, $25 or more per month), we together can make a difference.

Updated website
We recently updated our website to reflect the work we have done the past year. If you have a moment, check out our new immigrant stories, our expanded CIJF team, and our commitment to financial transparency.
