Anwar wins his freedom!

“Anwar” grew up in a marginalized Palestinian community in the Middle East. When many of his core beliefs did not align with those of his conservative community, he endured horrific torture by neighborhood vigilante groups. His mistreatment resulted in hearing loss and the inability to use one of his hands.

Against all odds, he was able to flee to the US, where he was placed in an immigrant detention center. A CIJF-funded attorney took up his case, and he recently won asylum.

Today, Anwar has started a new life in the United States.

Save the Date - October 5th! CIJF’s annual celebration & fundraiser!

We’ll be sharing more details soon, but we wanted to let you know that we will be hosting our annual celebration and fundraiser on the afternoon of Saturday, October 5.

You'll have a chance to:

  • Meet the CIJF team, some of our immigrant friends, and others in the immigrant advocacy community

  • See old friends and meet new ones

  • Hear stories from immigrants who CIJF has supported

  • Meet immigration attorneys funded by CIJF

Most importantly, we’ll be celebrating the excellent work that our donor community has funded.

More details coming soon!

With hope and gratitude,
Greg Mortimer, on behalf of the Colorado Immigrant Justice Fund team
